Christian Education & Bible StudyAt Foothills UMC we feel that having Adult Christian Education available is important so that one’s spiritual journey has outlets for continuing the learning and sharing process. These times offer adults a place to take all they know and understand about the Bible and the type of life Jesus led, and look deeper –a time to ask questions of how and why events happened , and how those events affected the people whose lives they touched. A time for those who don’t have understanding to search for it among a loving group living through the words of scripture who are finding connections between Biblical events and people with how the world is now.
The Adult Christian Education Committee (ACEC) has put together various opportunities throughout the year for adults to share community while learning.
Sunday Morning Bible StudySunday Morning Bible Study is offered year-round in the Adult Education Room in the Education Building, Room 8. This class is held at 9 AM before the church service at 10 AM. This class is taught by a Certified Lay Member and covers a broad selection of topics, often cross-referencing different faiths and religions from around the world. This class sometimes uses CD’s and DVD’s to bring in viewpoints and information from others outside our community. Word from the attendees is that this is an excellent program whether you have extensive self-knowledge or are interested in learning to enhance your knowledge. Coffee is served.

Wednesday Evening Bible StudyThe Wednesday Evening Bible Study is offered year-round, with occasional breaks for spiritual renewal during times when alternate Bible Study opportunities are presented. This class is taught in the community as a way to offer God’s love / a way to know him through an inviting opportunity for the unchurched to find Him outside of church. All are welcome. Class is held at 7 PM and offers free coffee and dessert.
This Bible Study works its way through the books of the Bible week by week. Sometimes a certain book is focused on at length, other times only certain passages are looked into. A great introduction to the Bible for the unchurched and a wonderful way to delve further into scripture for the person who knows the bible well.

Seasonal Bible StudyAt various times throughout the year there are other opportunities to enhance spiritual learning through study at FUMC.
Pastor-Taught Seasonal Bible StudyThe Pastor teaches 3-5 week special studies at pertinent times of the year, such as during Advent in preparation for Christmas, and during Lent in preparation for Easter. These classes are held in the Adult Education Room in the Education Building, Room 8. Often held during the late afternoon on Sundays, these classes focus on a particular idea or circumstance that could help to lead us into a better understanding of ourselves, the world around us, and God within our world.
Contact Pastor Dave Bunje for more information.
Classes of InterestClasses of interest are taught throughout the year when the Pastor is not teaching special studies. The topics of these classes are by the invitation and desire of our church members to learn more about something or someone in biblical or world past or in the present day. They are taught by various members of the church who have special knowledge or interest in the chosen area. Some examples of classes being taught are: Women of the Bible; Jewish Civilization; The Holocaust.
These classes are focused into 3-6 week journeys and are often held at the church in the Adult Education Classroom, in the Education Building, Room 8. Some classes may be held as a workshop over various hours in a single day.
